Overview
The unmanaged Industrial Ethernet media converters of the SCALANCE X-100 product line are ideally suited for converting electrical signals into optical signals in Industrial Ethernet networks at data transfer rates of 10/100 Mbps in line and star topologies. These converters facilitate electrical or optical connections to nodes or networks according to the port characteristics of the devices. They feature a rugged metal enclosure that supports space-saving cubicle mounting on standard rails, SIMATIC S7-300 DIN rails, or wall mounting. Rugged node connections with industry-standard RJ45 plug-in connectors with retaining collars offer additional strain and bending strain relief, thanks to latching on the enclosure. The devices support redundant power supplies and provide diagnostics via LEDs for power, link status, and data communication, along with an error signaling contact that is easily adjustable using the SET button. The SCALANCE X-100 media converters permit low-cost conversion of electrical signals into optical signals in industrial Ethernet line, star, and ring topologies and are designed for installation in control cabinets. They allow single, remote terminal units or network segments to be linked via the optical path, with the capability to integrate an optical path into a redundant ring or standby link. The SIPLUS SCALANCE X-100 variants feature conformal-coated PCBs for use in harsh environments. These media converters are optimized for mounting on a standard rail and a SIMATIC S7-300 DIN rail, with the option for direct wall mounting in various positions. The dimensions of the enclosure match those of the SIMATIC S7-300, making the devices ideally suited for integration into automation solutions with SIMATIC S7-300 components. They include a 4-pin terminal block for connecting redundant 24 V DC power supplies, a row of LEDs for displaying status information, a 2-pin terminal block for connecting the floating signaling contact, and a SET button for local configuration of the signaling contact and cascading mode.
