Overview
The ONS-CXP2-MPO-90 is a powerhouse fiber optic patch cable designed for stretching long distances within Cisco's Network Convergence System 4000 (NCS 4000) data centers. Reaching a whopping 90 meters (almost 295 feet), it connects devices significantly farther apart compared to shorter ONS-CXP2-MPO cables. Similar to other ONS-CXP2 cables, it features MPO connectors on both ends for high-density connections between devices with CXP2 ports, a high-speed interface found on NCS 4000 switches. While this cable boasts impressive reach, it utilizes multi-mode fiber, known for its ease of installation and affordability. However, this fiber type has a critical downside: limitations on how far it can effectively transmit signals. The 90-meter length pushes multi-mode fiber to its maximum capability, and you can expect some signal degradation at this distance. If maintaining the highest possible signal quality is critical, or if you need to connect devices even farther apart, then single-mode fiber would be a better option.
