Product Overview
The EDW-120 is a robust dual serial-to-Ethernet converter designed to facilitate RS-232 serial devices' communication over TCP/IP Ethernet networks. This device is particularly suited for heavy-duty industrial applications due to its comprehensive feature set, designed to ensure reliable and secure communication in challenging environments. The EDW-120 offers flexible configuration options, with DIP switches available for Ethernet port settings and a password-protected web interface for all other settings. Diagnostic information can be accessed via a Telnet session, complemented by basic status indicators provided by LEDs.
Built for industrial-grade performance, the EDW-120 incorporates a wide power range, complete galvanic isolation, and transient protection to prevent failures caused by ground loops or noise spikes. This reliability is further enhanced by using industrial-grade components, resulting in an impressive MTBF of 1,000,000 hours. The device operates within a broad temperature range of -25 to +70 °C (-13 to +158 °F) without any moving parts, ensuring durability and longevity.
The EDW-120 has been rigorously tested by both Westermo and external test houses to meet stringent EMC, isolation, vibration, and shock standards, making it suitable for heavy industrial environments and rail trackside applications. It supports various connectivity modes, including UDP, TCP client, and TCP server connections, allowing communication between units or to a PC virtual COM port. Additionally, it features a range of special modes, such as Single Client Mode, Dual TCP Connection, DSR Connection, RST on TCP Closure, RTS Control, Break Signaling, and Last Calling, making it adaptable to a wide array of complex applications.
